Fully living up to its name and reputation, its striking dial face combines practical features with a modest lesson in geography. First, the watch face’s legibility in the dark is enhanced by the triangular luminous background of its four hour figures, while its baton-style hour markers feature a strip of luminous compound. Then, the dial centrepiece bears an engraved outline of Raroia, the Polynesian atoll on which the KonTiki ended its fabled voyage in 1947. Vouching for the case’s exceptionally robust construction, its water resistance extends to 200 metres underwater thanks to its screw-locked back and setting crown.
