REPETITION MINUTES TOURBILLON GMT ANTIPODE
Dewitt unveiled the Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode during Baselworld 2009, this exceptional twin-faced model showcase the latest technological breakthroughs of 21st century Haute Horlogerie within an elegantly sophisticated case.
Passionately dedicated to the exceptional, the DeWitt master-watchmakers have consistently striven to demonstrate the horological excellence of the Geneva-based Brand. This mastery of hand craftsmanship traditions is now magnificently illustrated in the Academia Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode, an extremely original model in both technical and aesthetic respects.
With the Academia Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode DeWitt is unveiling a world-premiere, giving a new and genuine meaning to the traditional minute repeater complication. This new limited edition model is equipped with an extremely inventive multi-complicated movement offering a masterly demonstration of the Brand’s impressive creativity. Whereas most complications operate on separate movements, the Academia Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode reveals three extreme complications within a single fully integrated movement.
This exceptional model that bears a 45.5cm diameter and equipped with a highly inventive movement housing a tourbillon, a minute repeater mechanism and a GMT function, can be admired and worn on any of its two articulated sides. Fitted around a dedicated axle, the twin-faced case of the Academia Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode is 16.8mm thick andpivots at a full 360° by lateral rotation activated by pressing the watch lugs at 12 and 6 o’clock, which releases the case by pushing it back against the central axle.
On the front side of the masterpiece appears the tourbillon carriage, alongside home hours and minutes and the minute repeater. On this side, the home time striking mechanism is triggered by a push-button located at 9 o’clock on the case side.
The second side reveals the GMT function displaying the hour and minutes of the second time zone. The minute repeater mechanism can be activated at any time with the same push-button, allowing the owner of this masterpiece to hear the home time stroked while reading the second time zone. The time in the latter is set by means of a corrector at 4 o’clock.
Representing the culmination of years of technological development, the Academia Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode radiates a boldly virile sense of strength that is entirely in harmony with traditional watchmaking techniques.
At the heart of the timekeeper, a hand-winding mechanical movement beats at 21,600 oscillations per hour and bears the carefully and elegant Cotes de Geneve finishing’s in black gold. The timepiece proudly shows off its sporty look thanks to a magnificent profile enhanced with a Grade 5 Titanium bracelet and black PVD deployant buckle
As a result of years of technological development, the Academia Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode exudes a distinctive and powerful masculine presence in harmony with the finest traditions of hand-crafted horology. Made out of titanium and black PVD and framed by substantial open worked lugs, the case is enhanced with a smoked sapphire crystal and an inward-facing bezel, while the DeWitt signature imperial columns face outwards. This highly original design endows the Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode with a face radiating admirable nobility and depth.
This model is the perfect blend between tradition and modernity.
