Press release
The collection stems from the inspiration of artworks of Qing Dynasty in China including paintings from two famous painters, Ju Lian and Yun Shou Ping, who are the masters of the Lingnan School of Painting. To set the ambience of the launch of this exquisite collection, Jaeger-LeCoultre had partnered with Chinese Arts and Crafts which had displayed a substantial collection of antiques from the Qing Dynasty especially for this event.
Renowned actress and one of the leading actresses in the popular television series “Beyond Realm of Conscience”, Charmaine Sheh, made a special appearance and unveiled this exquisite collection during the launch. A set of eight exquisite timepieces, the Master Ultra Thin Enamel “Qing Dynasty” Collection is a splendid embodiment of the love of fine details that has always characterized Jaeger-LeCoultre, the art of miniature enamel painting dedicates its absolute beauty to highlighting the watchmaking feats of the Manufacture – one of the rare brands to enhance its wristwatches with the full range of traditional fine watchmaking embellishments.
The Master Ultra Thin Enamel “Qing Dynasty” Collection is a demonstration of the enamel artists’ craftsmanship. To render the timeless beauty of the paintings by Ju Lian and Yun Shou Ping, the artists of the Manufacture decided to reinterpret them through superimposing layers of enamel creating an exceptional appearance of profoundity and intensity. Simply moving the miniature gently under a source of light reveals a wealth of chromatic variations, unsuspected perspectives and nuances reflected beneath the shiny surface of the enamel. The meticulous craftsmanship allows us to appreciate the vivid scenery and even the lively bees and butterflies in the paintings of Ju Lian and Yun Shou Ping.
At the heart of the Master Ultra Thin Enamel “Qing Dynasty” Collection beats manually-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 849, a movement that has already achieved legendary status among devotees of fine watchmaking due to the exceptional qualities it has consistently displayed since 1994: peerless accuracy and reliability, 123 parts and a cadence of 21,600 vibrations per hour, all housed within a mere
1.85 mm. It is indeed one of the thinnest movements on the market today. Embodying a major horological accomplishment, its slender structure calls for exceptional machining precision. In order to limit the overall thickness, it is equipped with a bridge-free barrel and an extremely small escapement.
