Press release
For the third consecutive year, luxury watch-making brand Audemars Piguet is the proud official red carpet sponsor for the 65th annual Tony Awards. To celebrate, Audemars Piguet is collaborating with Patagonia Sur to create the first eco-friendly Green Room for the awards show that airs Sunday, June 12th in New York City.
The carbon footprint for this innovative “Green Room” and the carbon emissions of the airplane flights of each of the approximately 100 awards presenters and nominees at the TONY awards will be offset through Patagonia Sur’s native species reforestation project that will plant 300 trees, covering one-half acre in the Audemars Piguet Forest in the Patagonia region of Chile.
These new plantings will become part of the 14 acres of forest in Patagonia with over 7,500 native-species trees sponsored by Audemars Piguet, a major addition to Patagonia Sur’s efforts to reforest over 800 acres through its Reforestation and Biodiversity Project.
Audemars Piguet is also utilizing environmentally responsible décor for the Green Room, with seagrass carpeting woven from natural fibers that have not been treated with toxic chemicals, an aubergine zero-toxin (LOW VOC) paint color, and limiting energy use through compact fluorescent bulbs and energy efficient LED screens. The room décor will be the perfect setting to feature the company’s collection of exceptional men’s and women’s timepieces as show nominees and presenters hang out backstage.

Remarked Francois-Henry Bennahmias, CEO & President of Audemars Piguet (North America) Inc: “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with the Tony Awards. The Green Room collaboration with Patagonia Sur at the Tony Awards highlights the importance of protecting our forests and reducing our carbon footprint in simple yet affective ways. It is also another cornerstone in the company’s commitment to far-reaching projects.”
Adds Patagonia Sur CEO Warren Adams: “Patagonia Sur is proud to be partnering with Audemars Piguet - a company with a long-standing commitment to conservation - to form a tangible connection with the extraordinary place that is Patagonia.”
In addition, Audemars Piguet has become one of the charter members of Patagonia Sur’s Corporate Conservation Circle, a cohesive group of sustainability-minded companies, dedicated to raising the awareness of the environment. This partnership is part of the Audemars Piguet Foundation’s impressive global portfolio of conservation projects.
The 65th Annual Tony Awards will be broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre on Sunday, June 12th (8pm ET) on CBS. The Tony Awards are presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.
