They also know that the best-known contemporary watchmaker crafts all his movements in pink gold. They will doubtless be somewhat more surprised to learn that this relentless perfectionist is giving a slight nod to current trends. The brand-new Chronomètre Bleu with its chrome-blue dial represents a departure from the brand’s signature aesthetic codes. Since new introductions are never coincidental at F.P. Journe, the purpose here is to highlight the slightly blueish tint of the case in tantalum – also a first for the multiple award-winning master-watchmaker. The  use of new materials is a recent phenomenon for the brand and first emerged last summer with the titanium case of the limited-edition Octa Perpétuelle. The back of this high-precision chronometer reveals only the balance and the escapement, which appear to be mysteriously detached from the movement.
