Gillian de Bono

Gillian de Bono is the editor-in-chief of the magazine How to Spend It, the Financial Times supplement dedicated to luxury.

Interview:

1- What does the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève represent for you?
2- Why did you agree to be jury member?
3- What makes in your opinion the value of a watch?

1. The world's most prestigious and competitive watch competition.
2. First and foremost I felt extremely honoured to be invited to join the judging panel and, for this reason alone, I didn't hesitate in accepting. But I was also pleased to bring a female viewpoint to the judging process as the majority of judges are male.
3. There is no single answer to this question. A sportsman will  have a very different view to a women who wants a beautiful evening watch or an entrepreneur who is looking for a special timepiece to wear during his business day. Then again, for the serious watch collector functionality may be the main value indicator while for others it may be aesthetics.
