Eugenio Zigliotto

Born in Eritrea about 70 years ago, but italian citizen, I am a professional journalist from more than 45 years.
For 30 years I was first involved as a professional reporter for motor racing, particulary F1.
But all my life, as a hobby, I was attracted by mechanical wristwatches. So in 1986 I decide to be also a pubblisher and I started with an italian specialized magazine called " Orologi da POLSO" ( Wristwatches in english!).
It was absolutely the first in the world dedicated to wristwatches and watchmaking to be on sale in regular newstands.
Then I introduce, more or less all the time as the first, the same idea of a media dedicated to the watchmaking in different countries, like France, USA, England, Portugal, Japan, China, with the logo "Wrist Watch", or « Heure » or « Horas ».

Interview:

1- What does the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève represent for you?
2- Why did you agree to be jury member?
3- What makes in your opinion the value of a watch?

1. « It is for me e big pleasure to be again for 2009 in the Jury of the GPHG. As You know I was a member from his first edition. For me the GPHG has all the time been the best opportunity for the watchmakers to be recognized at the top of the list. »

2. « Being involved from many years as a specialized journalist in this kind of business, at this point to be member of the jury has been through the time also for me a great chance to confirm my judgements. »

3.  « Clearly beeing a specialist I look a watch first for its movement and than for its aesthetic. »
