Today, 183 years after its beginnings in Canton, BOVET is represented in more than 30 countries by selected watch and jewellery points of sales.
BOVET wristwatches are unusual because they are in pocket-watch cases, with the crown and the bow at 12 o’clock. This unique design is inspired by BOVET’s 19th-century “Chinese-market watches”. Another BOVET remarkable design feature from that era is the serpentine hand.
The company produces a limited number of watches — fewer than 2000 a year. Despite having only two basic collections, Fleurier and Sportster, there is a wide variety of watches. More than a third of BOVET watches are unique pieces made to order. The others are manufactured in very small series.
In 2006, BOVET took up the reins of two Manufactures in the name of DIMIER 1738 Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Artisanale in Tramelan and DIMIER 1738 Manufacture de Cadrans et de Sertissage in Plan-les-Ouates. Becoming totally independant, it could be more fitting to give all of these structures a prestigious headquarters. In 2007, BOVET became owner of the Château de Môtiers, a historic monument that stands like an eagle’s nest above the village of Fleurier, where the very first chapters of BOVET’s history were written.
BOVET maintains with the Château de Môtiers its heritage with an authentic Artisan Haute Horlogerie Watchmaking Workshop where timepieces are assembled. As BOVET’s center of artisan craftsmanship, decoration and watchmaking as well as artistic talent, the Château de Môtiers will continue to host watchmakers, artisans of decoration finish, artisan engravers and miniature painters in the future. Also a new museum will exhibit the private collection of BOVET’s Pocket Watches of the 19th century.
